Pearl Necklace, part 2

After completing part 1, I had to make the chain. First I calculated how long my necklace was to be. I did this by measuring total amount, subtract the amount of space my 6 pearls and 12 rings would take. Then I divided this by 7, the number of chain parts. Then I measured the chain and found out how many I needed, 11.
This is the first one I did

So first you have to count the number of chains, in my case 11

Open number 12

Remove 11 chains

Attach a ready pearl with a ring

Attach the opened chain number 12 to the other end of the pearl, and close

It should look like this

And as you add more, it should look like this

At the start and end you add the type of ending you want

And then I added the charm in the middle in the front

But when I tried it on, it looked... odd
So I decided to add more chain to the sides of the charm

Much better. I LOVE the way it turned out, and I cannot wait to make another soon!
Maybe a matching bracelet, who knows...

Pearl Necklace, part 1.

Remember my post Pearl Necklace? Here is part one to making the necklace. And this was the most time consuming part as well. I have decided to give a picture only tutorial. Any questions, comment below.

I wanted to have a charm as well on the necklace. I did similar as above, but adding multiple smaller pearls with a loop on the end. Then I fastened the leaf with a ring.

Sugar Lemon Scrub

Yesterday it was my sisters birthday. I decided to give her money. The reason I ended up on giving her money is because she has a The Secret Check for a specific amount of money that she has hung up on the mirror in her room. So I decided to print out the same check for her, to give to her. I will write about The Secret in another post.

But it just felt like it was not enough. So I decided to make a Sugar lemon scrub, inspired from The Idea Room. The label I found over at The Craft Project. It was so unbelievable easy to make!

Oil, sugar and lemon essential oil

2 cups of sugar

1/3 cups oil

Mix together
Add a few drops essential oil until wanted scent

Put in a container

Done!

Chair Redesign

So this week there is a new challenge over at the The CSI Project. For some time I have wanted to painted a chair in my room. It was supposed to be white, but has becomed stained. So I wanted paint it and decided to use the same paint as my Cupboard in my bedroom. So first I did a white base coat, followed by one coat of blue paint. This is all I was able to do before the challenge closed, but I will post an update later after I have done the second coat of blue paint.

Craft-O-Maniac

So this morning when I checked my email in bed I read this post form Craft-O-Maniac, and I was really touched by her, and the way she shared her feelings. I love creating and I do enjoy blogging, but I have only gotten a few views, and a few comments. I always figured that people do not know about my blog. I have linked up to a few link parties, and tried-and-failed to have my own. But also the ones that came and looked at my site just do not really like my work. But this was a new eye-opener. How can I expect people to comment on my blog post when I do not do the same to others.

"If you give you shall receive"

So from now on I will become better at giving comments on posts I like. Most of the blogs I read I get into my email, for convenience, and those who do not offer this I subscribe to. So I have to get better at going into the post and actually writing a comment. Just so they know I am there and I like what I read.

Pearl Necklace

I am so super duper excited! Earlier this week I was at a craft store and bought supplies to make a necklace and maybe a bracelet too! The only problem is I am not quite sure how to make it yet. I have a vision in mind and cannot wait untill I can try to make it (with help from my sister who knows a bit more about jewelry making than me.

My supplies:

So I did google different pearl necklaces and there are so many pretty ones out there. There are some lovely ones posted at Barrister BrideFave CraftsMade In Pretoria and A Realistic Wedding. I am probably going to make more pearl necklaces in the future if I can manage to make something nice with this!

Entré Make-over

So as I mentioned in my last post I have redone the entré. We went to ikea and bought a plant, vanilla candle, mirror and small chandelier. I also had an old picture frame that I hung up with the picture of the household, my sister, myself and out dog. Only one more thing left, my sister is going to paint a waterfall picture to hang up behind the candle&plant, and its done. I am really excited and satisfied by the way it looks. I think it looks a lot more welcoming.

From Dress to Skirt

Sorry for not posting any new posts this week so far. I lent away my small camera when I was on holiday and did not get it back untill today. This week has also been about purging, organizing and decorating! I have finished the entré and it looks so good, photos up this weekend! Also I have been doing a lot in my bedroom. I have finished removing everthing form the bookcase and the dresser, I am almost done with one box and have two boxes left. I do find it hard to let go of useless stuff, and I am not quite sure why but I am trying my best!

I will show a redesign i did the week before my holiday. Two years ago I made a dress, but i did not really like it so I never wore it. So therefore I decided to make a skirt out of it. I decided I wanted it to be high waste.

I cut it off right over the black band, removed the sidezipper and sewed it shut, as well as taking it inn a bit on each side. After I sew a black zipper in the back. I really love the black detail, so I am thinking of another way to make it more black. Until now I have used it with a black belt.

Back from Holiday!

My holiday was great! It is so nice to go on a vacation and just relax and let go off all the worries. I do feel very re-energized.

I must say I was a bit disappointed when I didn't get any links to my link party. I did not expect a great turnout, but I did think there would be a few. I guess it was just too early for me to have a party.

Luckily I really missed crafting so I am really excited to do some creativeness! I have a dozen, yes 12, pillow covers to make, a table runner, finish a skirt and a top and that is just the sewing I need to complete. I also want to do some scrapbooking and make two birthday cards. I love wall vinyl too, and using this as inspiration I actually want to paint a picture or a pattern on a wall in the living room. A also want to do some mayor organizing and purging so I have a lot to do! It is supposed to be raining all week, so I will have a lot of time to get things done. I will try to get at least 2-3 tutorials up this week! So check in later!
